Chris, a fourth-generation cooper at Old Bushmills Distillery, carries forward his family’s 140-year legacy. His journey began at nine, learning the craft from his father, Alastair, with whom he now works side by side. This tradition, dating back to his great-grandfather, remains essential to Bushmills’ whiskey.
“Working with wood, barrels, tools, and alongside my dad lets me contribute to the Bushmills story—it’s a dream job,” Chris says. With up to 80% of a whiskey’s character derived from the cask, Chris’s skill ensures Bushmills’ 400-year tradition of producing exceptional whiskey remains intact.
